2nd TEST, Day 2: PAKISTAN TAKE A 200 PLUS LEAD

Yes it is far from ideal heading into 2010.
But when you are bowled out for 127 runs, a team making 250, which is not ideally a good score in Test cricket, will still create a fairly daunting task to edge ahead in the game.
Pakistan now have the 200 run lead with one wicket in the bag. As always I have hope as the wicket has become a better one to bat upon, but it will be very, very difficult to get back into this game.
The centurion drought has to end rapidly for the top 6 batsmen, as we will need one centurion to rise to this occassion, okay probably two.
Phillip Hughes has a massive opportunity now and the guys who are struggling to get settled are in a really challenging situation!
The bowlers tried, the opposition have ease to get the lead with two solid partnerships, which Pakistan managed.

See the comments in the previous post as to what has been discussed so far concerning to Test.

The bowlers did try, they beat the bat regularly, but they just didn't get the nicks we needed.

That drop by North on top of his crap summer looms very large now. I starting to suspect he isn't actually international standard. He has been left for too long on the shelf.

He's put down a few in the slips.
I have noticed that he stands very far back in the slip area, sometimes way too far, bearing in mind Brad Haddin takes a far distance purely to give himself a more athletic chance.

Richie Benaud commented on this earlier in the summer and in the Ashes a few times he was very far back. He'll be feeling heat Marcus! Still rate him as a fine cricketer though mate.

Ian,
I miss Binga and his reverse swinging toe crushers and also his signature leap after getting a wicket.

Yesteday when I saw the highlights in the evening I was shocked to see the shot Punter played to his first ball. What the .... was going through his mind...??

North, I agree is a quality player, but he is struggling to get a move on.

Bring back Roy...

baiju, I agree, it was shocking that shot. So brainless that I expect that nothing was going on in his mind. It was all a reactive, instinctive blur.

Brain short-circuit. From a batsman of Punters class it was, to quote Lou, an instinctive blur.
The fielder was glued there just waiting for it and I'm sure Punter was aware.

A century in the waiting for him I hope.

Binga's toe crushers...Baiju, don't frustrate me with the mans absence!!!

Lou, its too early to take a call on North. Agreed, his last six months haven't been great but he did show some promise during the SA series.

I think the Australians missed the trick last night as well as this morning. They let the new ball go to waste. It seemed they tried way too hard and forgot to put it in the right areas. I've been saying all summer long, that this attack is pretty mediocre, sooner or later, they will be exposed. Its a green top, put it in the right areas, it will do wonders for ya! didn't they learn anything from Mohd Asif? the dude bowls 125 km/h but definitely miles ahead of the Australians. We saw an artist in him, definitely, a beautiful spell. Australians did okay, It was the poor shot selections by the Pakistanis, which led to wickets for the Australians.

Australians would definitely do better in the 2nd innings and I still feel they can get back into the match. Pakistan too, lost the trick in the end, if they played some decent shots, they could've played on till day 3 and post a good lead.

Good cricket! Pakistan has played fearless cricket and at times a bit stupid but the bowling has really made up for it. Definitely the best spell of bowling seen all summer.

Bollinger was too short and not attacking stumps enough. He picked up as the day went on but he really should know his home conditions better. Siddle bowled well but looks like he needs to go fuller as he hardly got any edges or LBW.

Would have been interesting seeing
Hilfy on this track, hes too doesn't bowl it full for a swing bowler, but he can swing it.
